There is a solution to this however; a shaman has the ability to travel in the spirit realm. One big problem that stands right out is, how do you find all the fragments of a soul in such a large place, let alone tell whose soul a fragment belongs to? The answer is a simple one for a shaman trained in the Celtic ways you make a soul crystal. Now yes a Soul crystal there could be made for a shaman to wear them self to build on their own spirit energy, however if the crystal was made for the patient it would resonate with the patients spirit energy. The shaman would then take this crystal with them into the Otherworlds. A soul crystal is not just an amplifier of power, but like a compass or magnet it is drawn to the energy of which it is made. This makes finding the fragments faster, though it can still take a long time, sometimes up to a week or more for a completely shattered soul. Remember that traveling to Otherworlds drains a shaman's spirit and they too need to renew it. When the shaman finds a fragment it is gathered inside the soul crystal and kept inside it. The shaman must continue this until all the fragments are found. Essentially the crystal will not want to draw the shaman anywhere when still in the spirit realm.
When all the fragments are gathered, the shaman returns from the spirit realm with the Soul crystal containing the fragmented energy of the patient's soul. Giving this crystal to the patient to wear as a necklace the energy transfers from the crystal back to the soul, and the person is made whole. Usually the person is asked to wear the crystal at all times to help protect against future fragmentation as the crystal will work to keep any parts from being chipped away.
Depending on the strength of the patient's spirit the effects of the fragmented soul, the depression, insomnia, lunacy, should quickly dissipate. This usually occurs within a week or two. After a trial such as fragmentation, the soul needs time to rest and become whole again.
