A Tale of an Archer - The Bracer.
A bracer, used to protect the bow arm from a bow string. Every archer has their own technique in shooting an arrow, yet most of the time, each and every technique, the bow string will eventually hit the archers forearm, which causes much damage. Therefore, archers use a bracer to protect the forearm. A bracer is not only used for protection, many archers use it to provide a smooth surface for the string to strike.
Long ago, during the kingdom wars, a time where Buya and Koguryo were not as large as they are now, a messenger set foot in a small primitive town somewhere deep in the woods. He came with great knowledge, and told the town elder, "The Han Imperial Army is advancing, you must leave your home!" The Elder refused, and so did the townsmen. The messenger had said, "Then you must defend your home until our army arrives." He gave note that it will be a couple of days until they would be safe. The Elder then had asked everyone in the town to get ready their weapons. All of the men grabbed either spears or swords. Yet none of them armed themselves with a bow. They complained that the bow strings would damage their forearm, and ruin their ability to fight.
Everybody's confidence grew weaker every hour, until a large group of men entered the town. The Elder nor the town had ever seen these people before. They were described as men, armed with bows. Along with the bows, they carried many quivers of arrows behind their back. But then, the people noticed that these men were wearing a leather type of armor on their forearm. They finally realized what it was. One of the mysterious men saw the man and said, "It is called a Bracer, protection for the wrist." The townsman asked, "Who are you? What do you want?" Another one of the mysterious men, that seemed to look like the leader answered, "We are protectors of nature, protectors of this land, we are Rangers."
The Elder knew of the Rangers, they were true to their word. Quickly the Elder invited them into a small hut. He told them the danger they were in, and asked for their help. The Rangers agreed, they would help protect the town until their army arrives. While waiting for the army to approach, a few rangers taught the townsmen how to make these bracers. It was then, that the men started to put down the swords, and arm themselves with a bow.
Two days later, Han scouts started approaching the area, but then dead in matter of seconds from a quick arrow through the chest. Ranger patrols were set up around the area, and whenever an enemy approached, they would die with a single arrow.
This was the turning point of the war for the small town, the kingdoms army reached the town safely, and the town was safe. They were grateful for the rangers help, and for their knowledge.
