The basic idea behind all the crafts is to transform cheap materials into something more valuable. However, none of the crafts are profitable until you gain a sufficient skill level. The skill levels are as follows:
Novice > Apprentice > Accomplished > Adept > Talented > Skilled > Expert > Master > Grandmaster > Champion > Legendary
In order to succeed beyond the accomplished level in a craft, one must specialize in the craft.

- You can do all gathering crafts up to Legendary.
- You can do all refining and manufacturing crafts until Accomplished, Then specilize in one for Legendary;Food preparing can be done to Legendary regardless.
- You can only be Legendary in one craft of the following: Smithing,Carpentry,Tailoring, and Jeweling.
- You can be Legendary in Cheffing regardless of other crafts.

- Use crafting tiles if they are available.
- If your clan has a crafting room, such as Sun, Moon or Forsaken, try to take advantage of it. These rooms normally have a bank NPC allowing you to craft without having to leave to acquire additional raw materials.
- Concentrate all of your crafting for a certain craft on one character--for instance, don't do woodcutting on all four of your characters. Pick one character to be your woodcutter, concentrating on that character. One exception to this is if you have a poet doing their sun quest.
