Kajang is an event character villain.
Character Biography
Kajang was a powerful mage that found a dark source of magic that would give him unlimited power. His problem was that he could not control his power and therefore he killed anyone who he tried to save: when trying to pet his rat, Gobu, he eventually killed it.
Kajang's power was his destiny. Consumed by his power of death, Kajang became the leader of skeletons and eventually became one of them. Kajang offered a reward of a Gobu's favor or Hunter's glove to anyone who could find a way to restore Gobu. Yet, to find their ways to do that, people had to venture into Kajang's crypt and were attacked by several skeletons. The community had to gather bones to revive the pet and fur to make gloves for him. Kajang soon realized his pet could not be revived and banned everyone from his crypt. Kajang's crypt remains sealed inside the Koguryo cemetery.

The sage Kamani studied much about Kajang while Kajang's Crypts were open.
The Crypt Boards
During the event, an event character named Mudang posted information about Kajang on boards that sat outside his crypts. Much of this information came from the notes of a man named Kanami.
what comes
I, Mudang, greet you, citizens of the Nexus. I have heard of the eclipse which soon approaches. Bad news, dark news, follows the darkness of the sky.
I have traveled far learning of the one called Kajang. I have heard much about him, yes, much, but most was lies and tales to scare children. I, I alone, know the truth of Kajang. Shall I share it?
Mudang Speaker to Bones
bringer of bones
Before the time of Yuri, when the gods were still young and dragons walked the lands freely, a powerful man came to be. This mans name was Kajang. Strong was Kajang in the arts of magic, so strong in fact that even the dragons feared him. He soon learned of the dark arts and began to research the dead. In his research he found some power. What was that? Ah, that is not for us to know. But the power he found seemed unlimited. Some say it is the same as the gods' source of strength.. But no one knows for sure. He used this power to bring forth the dead. Thus came his name, the Bringer of Bones.
bone armies
Armies of the dead? No, you misunderstand. Creating armies of undead to do his bidding was not his goal. He wanted to strike the gods down from the heavens! But power calls to power, death calls to death. The bones begin to walk when the Bringer of Bones is on the move.
forgotten papers
Thank you, younglings, for showing me your library. What a treasure it is, oh yes. A great treasure indeed. And to think that a barbarian led me to this learning. Hm, hm, I must rethink certain thoughts.
What treasure, what great treasure, I have found here. Oh, a treasure beyond price. Keep your glowing swords and your glittering gems. Hm, indeed, what I have found is of greater worth, yes, than all those baubles.
Stuffed in a box, this treasure was. Old papers, crumpled, wadded up as padding for a few paltry books sent from Silla. The books? They are nothing, merely rare tomes. Pah! Peace, war, of little worth next to the pages used for packing.
Kamani's journal, I have now. You know, I hope, who the great sage Kamani was? Heh. I knew him, at the end of his days and the start of mine. Believe me or not, youngling, but it is true. Not all of it can I find. Many pages are missing, and other gnawed by rats. Rats in a library? Criminal, I say, criminal! Yet Kamani's papers I have now. I shall tell you of them as I learn more.
sage kunami's papers 1
- Entry, Day 18*
"Kajang came to town today, for the first time since it happened. I saw something in his eyes I have not seen before. They were a strange green tint. Almost glowing. When I said "Hello" to him he merely looked at me and laughed... Kajang scares me... I fear what is to come..."
- Entry, Day 26*
"He is leaving town, I must follow him. For some reason the others here do not see the change... His skin grows more pale with each passing day....."
- Entry Day 40*
"I followed Kajang to the Sister Peaks in the eastern mountains... He began to ascend the Elder Sister so I followed.. He looked back a few times staring directly at me, then merely continued his ascent as if nothing happened. We will reach the peak in a few days if the weather holds."
sage kunami's papers 2
- Entry 67*
"I write this not knowing if any will ever live to see it... I think Kajang is dead, I am not sure though... Allow me to explain... We reached the peak by noon. Kajang stared up into the sky overhead and yelled "I will have my vengeance!"
"Raising his arms into the air he began to chant... I do not know what he was saying but as he spoke those words the winds began to pick up... the clouds in the sky opened up.... By the gods! That terrible shrilling noise that came.. a cylinder of green light swirling from the sky engulfed Kajang. His flesh began to melt from his body but he did not flinch nor even blink an eye... He merely continued to speak in that mumbled tongue... I could see his bones as the bright green light continued to swirl down to him... His eyes!! They were gone, yet.. not gone... blazing green light had replaced them."
- Entry 67 - Continued*
"... Kajang began to laugh, a hollow laugh that made my very bones tremble. He was nothing more the a skeleton now... laughing at the sky... laughing at the heavens. All I heard was a loud *BOOM* and saw a bright green flash emerge from Kajang. It sent me flying back nearly 20 feet, causing my leg to break and knocking me unconscious..."
- Entry 68*
"When I awoke Kajang was nowhere to be found. I scanned the mountain from the peak. He was simply gone. All that remains is this black circle embedded into the peak of the mountain... and the ash which was once his body. Kajang must be dead...."
Those were the treasures that I found in your library, younglings. Ah, what treasures they were. The entries after those contain no relateed information or mention of Kajang. Much, much is lost to us. A curse upon those rats!
Every thousand years an Eclipse befalls these kingdoms. I have studied my astrological charts and discovered that this day, the day of the eclipse, is day on which which Kajang died.. but did not die...
Beware, for I fear that Kajang or some part of him still remains in this realm. Death calls to death, and the ancient dead come forth.
Mudang Speaker to the Bones
calling death
The eclipse, yes, younglings, that shall bring forth the dark. Fear what walks in the darkness. Fear that which follows darkening sun.
You see it around you. The dead come forth, they walk among us. The darkness in day draws nearer. Beware Kajang. He draws them to him. He calls death to his side.

legends of kajang 1
Kajang's touch is the touch of death. The old shamans tell of a time when Kajang was still new to his undeath. He saw a little girl fall into a river. Swiftly, he ran to pull her from the grasp of the waters. But what he handed to her mother was but a lifeless corpse. The child was slain by the touch of Kajang's hand.

gobu (Kajang's rat)
Kajang's touch brings death, younglings. Merely returning his rat Gobu to life will be futile. We must seek a way to prevent this.
