Glory Carnage

The Glory Carnage was one of the most prestigious Riches contests in all of Nexus during the games hayday. It was designated for levels 66-85 but has since absorbed the now defunct Adventures and Heroes divisions. For years it was considered the height of player-killing excelence because of it's accessibility, affordability, path balance, and lucrative prizes. At it's peak the Glory carnage would average more than 80 participants per riches-- which would mark the creation of the 4 team system to avoid lag issues. The introduction of "script items" allowed for participants to grossly inflate their base statistics to a point where the strategy of the class greatly shifted. These new items coupled with the change of the poet Atone spell marked the indefinite downfall of the specific carnage class.

"Tops" is a term that refers to the elite particapants of a carnage, the Glory Tops, while extremely skilled were not always "maxed" (Level 85). In fact it was a common practice to "under-level" to decieve host and auto-dye while taking advantage of Dog 2 by not maxing.

The Original Carnage of Champions

The original Carnage of Champions (sometime around Yuri 50) consisted of teams of 3, all pit in free for all style against one another in the Bloodlust arena. Dozens of teams entered but in the end, VietCong, Peddy, and a forgotten rogue bested Whiteshadow, Vierge, and Norkle to take the crown (engraved hand items **Glory Carnage Champion** instead of the legend mark seen today) as Glory Carnage Champion.

Downfall

The downfall of the Glory Carnage can be attributed to five specific factors:

1. Population decline and lack of PK interest 2. The Introduction of the Life Blossom 3. The Introduction of "Script items" 4. The alteration of the Atone spell which can remove Snare, a key strategy used in Glory endgame. 5. Decrease in Glory carnages per week

Vintage

A vintage theme was implemented by the Carnage department to try and appease some of the longstanding glory die-hards and used as an attempt to try and ressurect the nostalgia, where only "vintage" items could be used. Too many of the die-hards moved on, and the new theme did not catch on with the newer population for the attempt to be considered a success.
