History

We had just set off on a small scouting expedition through the western forests extending just west of Han's eastern border when we heard the sound. I don't recall who heard it first... RiaDora, Oakseer, or myself, but that's beside the point anyways. It was a blast well off but we were still knocked to our feet. We ran across the fields to see what it was and when we arrived we encountered a great hole. I peered inside at what seemed to be a small light near the bottom of this abnormal crater and slowly stepped down into the hole to see what it was. Oakseer came with a shovel and RiaDora with a pick, we began to break away at the ground and the light grew brighter and brighter. We then noticed what seemed to be a group of strings and we took them out of the shining hole. They didn't seem like much at the time... hah, funny how little we knew then!

I began to stretch out the strings and noticed that they had perfect elasticity and they seemed to be almost the consistency of rubber. I handed them to RiaDora and she pocketed them for later examination... Anyways, we had been scouting to try and find a battalion of Ilbon troops who had been spotted crossing the borders at random. Up ahead, past the large hole and a small patch of trees, we spied the Ilbons in a clearing. We camouflaged ourselves amongst the bushes in the thicket and observed them as they were given orders from their lieutenant. The lieutenant reported sightings of a Ranger Encampment nearby and he had ordered his soldiers to destroy the camp and slay all of the Rangers occupying it. They began their death march towards the camp as RiaDora led us around the troops to a safer position.

We rushed back to our camp just in time to warn the other Rangers of the oncoming terror. Now, we Rangers are usually prepared, and when we are not we are always prepared to prepare. This was a case where bows and arrows were in low supply but we were able to carve some arrows quickly and make some bows out of our stockpiles of wood that we had nearby. These were merely makeshift bows and did not have the flawless design of our Wilderness Bow which takes time to create. Just then, the Ilbons came crashing through a wall of trees and were within shooting range of the camp. We all began to unleash a rain of arrows on the battalion, but this was met with little success. The Ilbons are masters of metalworking and they had created some of the toughest armor for their troops that one has ever seen. This was armor far superior to Sun Armor and Wind Armor, Ice Armor and Dread Armor alike. No arrow was strong enough or fast enough to pierce their armor. We started carving our strongest Steel Tipped, Explosive Arrows which we realized were the only thing that could possibly break through such tough armor. One ranger, JinZounin, got close enough to let loose a high velocity arrow which pierced the armor of one soldier and detonated upon impact, throwing a small group of troops in several directions, eliminating them. JinZounin was then attacked and badly wounded because of how close he had to get to the Ilbons.

I raced into the line of fire and was barely able to escape with JinZounin before more soldiers could get to him. I realized that the only way we could stop the Ilbons was with short range shots or a faster arrow. The solution hit me... the flexible strings we had found earlier would make perfect bowstrings for added arrow and bow speed! I ran to RiaDora who gave me the strings. I took some very stiff and rigid oak wood and carved a bow into a new, aerodynamic shape. I then stretched out the strings (which I later learned were called Molghi Strings because they grew on the Molghi Plant which is a very rare plant growing only in conditions of extreme heat) and placed them into the frame of the bow. I drew back one of the powerful arrows and unleashed it from a great distance. It flew with unparalleled speed into the heart of a soldier.

This explosion brought down more soldiers than JinZounin's shot. I ran to the rest of the Rangers who had noticed that I had penetrated the Ilbon defenses. Large amounts of oak wood were passed around to carve the frame of this new bow. The frame was not a typical rounded, parenthetical shape... but rather a shape with multiple cuts and curves for added sturdiness and bow speed. All of the strings were passed around and it was enough to create twelve bows. Oakseer, RiaDora, myself, and nine other Rangers wielded these bows as we blasted quiver after quiver of the Explosive Arrows into the line of Ilbon soldiers. After they had taken a devastating amount of casualties, the Ilbon ranks began to retreat back towards their camp. These sturdy new bows had saved the day.

Once we had all returned to the Wilderness where it was safe, we began to research where these Molghi Strings came from. We found that they grew in the desert under an extremely intense heat and I was sent to lead an expedition into the desert to recover as many as possible. I did not follow orders...

Once we reached the desert, we trekked along for several days on limited food and water. One day, one scout who was sent along with us pointed out an enormous, blooming flower in the middle of this otherwise desolate area. We observed it and noticed it was most definitely the Molghi Plant that I had seen before in the hole. My emaciated crew began to take pockets full of the strings. These strings were not ordinary strings, they had a weight to them. So many were collected that my crew was weighed down and had a hard time carrying them. I led them home empty-handed and supposed that I would give up on trying to recover more strings.

I awoke the next morning after having a revelation in my sleep... I returned immediately to the desert and tried my best to find the Molghi Plant. After long hours and days I once again found the plant. I pulled out my hunting knife and cut the plant at its thick stem. Oozing mush and seeds came out of the stem, just what I wanted! I collected this substance in a leather pouch and began my voyage back to the Wilderness. Once there, I dug a small hole and let the mush ooze into the hole. In time it grew: it grew and grew and grew and grew. One day it had grown so much that it was a full-grown Molghi Plant and this was the end of our problems! I called upon RiaDora and she decided that we all needed to collect strings from this plant until we had a sufficient amount of Molghi Strings to help create the bows. We called these bows Molghi Bows after the plant.

That plant saved us that day and we have honored it ever since. We moved the plant recently to the Rustic Sanctuary where it will not be bothered. We have our dear friend of the Rangers, Maple, look after the Molghi Plant and we trust Maple to sell Molghi Bows to the community. She is quite the whittler and is able to create quite a few bows in a short time. She collects the strings whenever she needs them and this will be her job for quite some time. She likes it though, and so do we.
