History
Long ago, it was not so uncommon to see many nine-tailed foxes roaming about. Their cunning and intelligence rivaled that of many humans of the time. This early in history, many of the nine-tailed creatures could even speak in the human language. This angered some of the other mythical creatures. Many years ago a war between the ogres and the nine-tails began, bringing with it many deaths on both sides. Although cunning and intelligent, the nine-tailed foxes were no match physically to the ogres.
One of the most famous generals of this war was the nine-tailed fox know only as Maple. Her cunning and tactics help win many battles, but this is not what she was famous for. It was her devotion to her comrades that made her unforgettable. After leading a successful raid against an Ogre supply line, her troop was ambushed along the path home. Greatly outnumbered and extremely tired, Maple defended against the ogres herself to give the troop enough time to escape.
In memory of the famous nine-tailed general, her name was given to the only female pup in her litter. The tradition is still followed to this day. The descendant of the famous General Maple can be found wandering in the Ranger's paradise. Like her ancestors before her, the devotion she has to her troop is unyielding.
