Mining shovels can be purchased from the NPC Thane in Thane's Cave in the Wilderness at coordinates 185, 018.

Thane charges 40 coins per shovel.

Mining shovels are used for the Mining skill. They are utilized by dropping them in a mining area, and picking them up again. If the player is successful in finding something, a popup will appear indicating that a Mining pick is needed to remove it.
